Sue has been selected to represent the USA at the World Team Championships as a member of the Women's 70 Team. So after a short but very sweet few weeks back home, it was an exhausting journey from Boston – Munich – Trieste – Umag, where the team arrived, practiced, slept, practiced again and managed to lose in the first round to Great Britain (the 4th seeds). Shockingly, the 1st seeds (France) also were knocked out on the first day by South Africa.
Since this was Sue's very first time on the National Team, she got to carry the US flag at the opening ceremony together with legendary over 80s player King Van Nostrand (on the right). Uh Oh!! – they have the flag backwards!!
On the second day of play, the team took out their disappointment on Canada and beat them 3-0. After the match the team hung out at the beach and went for a swim in the warm, crystal clear Adriatic.
Mas arrived on Thursday to play this week in the World Individual Championships. There is live streaming from 3 courts (probably we won’t be playing on any of them, but, you never know. And remember that Croatia is 6 hours ahead of the Eastern US). The link is: http://www.htsv.hr/live-stream
Check back in a few days for an update on how we're doing in the World Individual Championships!!
